Rocket Spanish Review

I've heard a lot about Rocket Spanish, so I decided to try it out for myself. Find out what happened when I tried Rocket Spanish.

If there is one thing that you won't have difficulty finding, it would probably have to be a course that teaches you how to speak Spanish.

There are tons of them.  There is only one bad thing about this.  A lot of them just aren't very good.  I say this from experience.

I'll be the first one to tell you that the internet is a wonderful thing.  But there is one major drawback, and that is it lets anybody sell anything!!

I know this may sound great.  After all, it allows for more competition and diversity.  The thing is that most people don't really have the skill to create a quality product or service.

This is especially true when it comes to Spanish Language courses. Think about how many people in the world are bilingual?  There are millions of people who are bilingual. Does that mean that they are equipped to actually teach a foreign language?  I don't think so.

With all the poorly constructed Spanish courses that are being sold online, it's obvious that just because you can speak it, doesn't mean that you should be teaching it to others.

I suppose the easiest way to learn Spanish would be to go to an actual tutor or take classes in school.  There is one slight problem with that:  It can be quite pricey.  Now, if you have a lot of money saved up and can afford to hire your own personal tutor, then that's something you should do.

However, in my case, I didn't have much money to spare.  So, I was looking for other, more inexpensive ways to learn Spanish.

After all, the costs of Spanish tutor can costs up to $150 a week.  When you consider how many classes you are going to have to take with them and how long it takes, you can imagine how much the costs are going to add up.

The reason I wanted to learn Spanish was real simple. I had a concierge job with a hotel.  The company was building a new hotel in Valencia, Spain. I spent some time there when I went trekking through Europe.  It was, by far, my favorite city that I visited.

There is just something about that city that is so enchanting. I loved the beaches.  I loved the people. I loved the entire vibe of the city. I remember leaving to go back home to the US, and I thought "Wow.....I want to live there".

I had no idea how that was going to be possible. LOL. I lived in the U.S. and I didn't speak a lick of Spanish.  I was able to get by in the city because so many people speak English, but if I was going to ever have a job there, I would have to know how to speak Spanish.

The very same day I heard the company was building a Hotel in Valencia, I immediately asked my Manager to put in the good word for me.  I remember he told me "don't bother, they are only going to hire people who can speak Spanish".

Since I knew it was going to some time for the new hotel to open since the construction had to be finished, I had some time to learn it.

I Bought A Lot Of Spanish Language Courses

Like most people when they want to find something, I went straight to the internet.  I went to see if there were any courses that taught Spanish.  Boy.......there were A LOT.

I don't think it's an understatement to say that there were hundreds.  It felt like I bought at least half of them.

Some were decent, while most were down right terrible. The really bad ones were just very poorly written and it was obvious that it was made by people who have never taught before.  They just happen to speak Spanish, that's all.

The decent ones were a little more professional.  The problems that most of those had, though, was that they didn't do a good job of motivating the student

I always thought a good course (on any subject) kept the student motivated to move from one lesson to the next.

I was getting a little better in my Spanish, but I was far away from where I needed to be.

But it was really frustrating because what I was basically doing was buying a course, studying it, getting bored with it, moving on to another course, study it, move on to the next one, etc...

It had been a couple of months and I really wasn't satisfied.  I couldn't tell if the courses were just poorly made or was it me?  Was I just not able to get it? Either way, I was very frustrated.

I remember from time to time watching TV and checking out the Spanish language TV channels (like Telemundo).  I thought that maybe just listening to it would help my Spanish.  That didn't work out.  They spoke WAY too fast for me to understand.

Just listening to them was kind of a downer.  Because I felt like "how in the world am I ever going to be able to understand this, much less speak it?"

I remember speaking to my manager, Terry about how much I was struggling to learn Spanish.  He was so impressed that i was taking it so seriously and that I really wanted that job in Spain.

I guess he didn't think that I was going to take it that seriously.  He was really surprised.

His wife taught history at the local community college, and he told me that he'll ask her if she knew anybody who tutored Spanish at a reasonable price.

A Couple of Days Go By

A couple of days later, Terry told me that he spoke to his wife about this, and she asked around, and there were a couple of tutors teaching Spanish.

The only problem was that the tutoring service that was the cheapest, cost me about $20 and hour, which wasn't really in my price range.

However, Terry told me that she got some recommendations for some good courses online, if I wanted to learn it by myself.

Terry told me that they recommended either the Rosetta Stone course or the Rocket Spanish Course.  I had heard about the Rosetta Stone course when I was initially researching Spanish course.  It looked like a quality product, but the price was WAY out of my range.

I went to check out the Rocket Spanish website.  It looked pretty good.  It was a little bit more expensive than I had paid for other courses, but the price wasn't as outrageous as Rosetta Stone.

The website showed all the content was in the course, and there seemed to be A LOT.  All in all , it looked pretty good.  The problem was, so did many other courses I had bought previous to that.

After all, this is a website that is trying to sell a product.  Of course, they are going to tell you want to hear. So, I was naturally a little hesitant.

Yes Or No: Should I Buy?

I was really debating with myself as to whether I should buy the Rocket Spanish course. After all, it had been about 2 months since I've been trying to learn Spanish and I didn't have much to show for it.

I didn't know if I had the energy to buy another third rate product.

But I did see on the website, that the course came with an unconditional money back guarantee. This is something that most of the courses that I previously bought didn't have.

So I figured, why not? If I am not satisfied with the course, and I can just ask for a refund and that would be that.

So, I hit the "order now" button, and proceeded to pay for the course on my PayPal account.

As soon as the purchase was made I got an automatic email giving me the download link to the course material.

After it was downloaded, I immediately began to browse through the content.

I was completely stunned as to how much information was packed into the product.  I know that on the home page of Rocket Spanish, it provides bullet points as to what's inside the members area, but they are not even scratching the surface

It was packed with information. Before I purchased the course, I thought it was a little too expensive at $99, but when I began to look at all the content, I felt as if they were giving it away at that price.

As impressive as the sheer amount of content that the course provides, what made it really stand out was how detailed and nuanced the material was.

I began to realize that most of the courses that I previously bought were very general. What I mean by this, is that the content they provided was done in a very "by the book" sort of way.

But with Rocket Spanish, you can tell they put a lot of money behind this product.  It was top-notch professionally made.  The courses are setup in a very scientific and meticulous way.

So you know for certain when exactly you should be moving on to the next step.

Getting Started With The Course

I'm not going to lie you. When I got started with the course, it was kind of daunting.  Since there was so much information that I was going to have to go through, I thought it would take forever for me to finish it.

By the way, if you think you're going to learn a foreign language quickly, you are going to be really disappointed.  I think that was one of my biggest problems.  I wanted to learn Spanish NOW!! In hindsight, that was pretty naive.

But I just took a deep breath and started to follow the instructions and the interactive software, chapter by chapter.

It all steadily started to make sense to me. I would finally be pronouncing words the way they were intended to be pronounced. :)

More importantly, I was gaining confidence.  The grammar and the structure of a sentence began to make sense to me.  Before when I used to practice my Spanish, I was essentially just guessing.

I also loved all the little hints that are in the course which really helped me remember how to pronounce certain words.

After I finished my 3rd week of training, I could tell I was feeling much more comfortable with the language.  Everything was starting to synch in.

It used to be that I used to hate to practice my Spanish, because it felt like an errand.  Now, that I was really starting to get it, I enjoyed it.  (It's funny how that works, huh?)

I remember my girlfriend telling me as I was practicing "honey, you're starting to sound really good. I have no idea what you are saying but it sounds good."

So, I was definitely improving.  I was feeling adventurous so I wanted to watch one of the Spanish television channels and see if I could be able to follow along.

I turned on Univision.  They were showing some soap opera. I began to watch it, and believe or not I understood some of it.  Don't get me wrong.  I couldn't follow it word for word, but I was getting the general gist.

That was miles ahead of where I used to be.

So, How Did It Work Out For Me?

Well......it worked out really well for me. I practiced every single day for over 6 months, and it really paid off for me.

What made it even better was that the hotel hired a guy named Arturo who is from Puerto Rico.  I was able to talk to him in Spanish every single day. It was great practice.

My Spanish was good enough to get an interview with the "would be" Hotel Manager of the Valencia Hotel.  Obviously, he needed to see for himself how good my Spanish was.

He seemed to be impressed............and I got the job!!!!

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am.  As soon as the construction on the new Hotel is finished, I will be going to Valencia.

The reason I created is because I know that there are a lot of people who want to learn Spanish for a variety of reasons.  I just wanted to tell you that YES.....there are quality courses out there.

I don't think I would be in the position that I am now if it wasn't for Rocket Spanish.

It is easily one of the best products I have ever purchased. It isn't just solely because I was able to learn Spanish.  It's much more than that.

I'll be able to really enjoy the Spanish culture.  When I went on my trip to Europe, I really loved it.  BUT I don't think I was able to really get the full experience, because I didn't speak any of the languages.  Sure, there were many people who spoke English, but it wasn't the same.  When I get to Valencia, I can't wait to speak to people in their native language.

I'm proud of my accomplishment. Let's face it.  When you are younger, it's a lot easier to learn a new language.  But when you are grown up, it's not as easy.  So, I was really proud of myself.

I've gotten to meet some great people.  I have made a lot of friends with people who come from Spanish speaking countries. These are people that I probably would not have ever met if I didn't learn to speak Spanish.
